Ever since I was a little kid I have always been surrounded by music. My dad would always burn CDs of the greatest 80s bands and the classic rock and roll bands like Led Zeppelin. If it wasn’t for my parents bringing me to concerts I wouldn’t have been so interested in the music scene. It wasn’t until middle school when I started exploring different genres and discovering smaller bands. Ever since that my life has constantly revolved around music and I do not see it stopping anytime soon. As for photography I was very unfamiliar with the subject; it was about 2 years ago when I became really intrigued by it. I wanted to do something new and take a chance because it makes life more exciting. Capturing the perfect moment at shows is exhilarating because that image has basically summed up the energy of the show. Being able to let yourself go and forget about the world at concerts is a beautiful thing because the feeling is like no other. Creating this music publication with my sister is something I have been eager to do for awhile now, it gives me a great platform to express my love for music and share ideas. I am thrilled to see the journey ahead for Lucid Dreams Mag and adventures a long with it!

Hello beautiful readers! My name is Corynne–Coco, for short. My passion has always been music, whether it be simply listening to it, going to gigs, or perhaps my favorite, hearing what bands and artists have to say about the process in which they make their music. Luckily for me, my love for live shows started when I was 5 years old when my parents took me to see Green Day, and from there a gig fanatic was born! Some of my favorite bands include The Strokes, The National, The Smiths, and Oasis. Now, I have found that music is what truly makes me happy, so much so, that I can’t see myself pursuing any other career but in music, particularly in music production. When my sister and I brainstormed this blog, our goal was and is to gain a better understanding of the whirlwind that is music and help put a spotlight on bands that we believe in, all whilst making a community of music lovers, like ourselves, feel all that much closer!

Music has always played an important role in my life: from school performances, to watching my favorite artists live, music will always be a part of me. Combine a love for music with a love for photography and you’ll have a perfect match. I love concert photography because it allows you to see the show in a completely different perspective; the fans’ emotional state, the bands’ reactions and passion for doing what they love, and the best part is that you are able to capture it all through a lens.

I’ve grown up with music since I was born. My sister and father were in a band and I admired them greatly for it. I discovered what type of music I really was passionate about once I hit my senior year of high school. I attended more and more concerts and became known as the “concert junkie”. Concert venues have become my second home and a safe place for me. I love that in a concert venue, political views, religion, and other controversial topics become completely irrelevant. Everyone in that room is there to just listen and enjoy the music. Not only has music been something I am quite passionate about, but I’ve also grown up with writers and photographers in my life. I enjoy reading about how others put concerts into a perspective and how they view music. As for the photography, my sister has influenced me heavily. I’ve loved the idea of capturing those certain beautiful moments in life. Pursuing these passions has been a dream of mine for a while. So I’m thrilled to be apart of Lucid Dreams Magazine and sharing it all with you fellow music lovers!

Living in the DC metro area has given me the advantage to grow up around diverse cultures and ethnicities, as well as an outstanding art community. Spending most of my weekends in Adams Morgan’s indie basement concerts, I have gotten to meet the hidden young artists of DC. It has molded my personality, gave me the chance to discover new music, and educates me, each and everyday, on social issues many young adults are facing today.
